GRP Piping Systems

Plasticon UK have a worldwide reputation in providing GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) pipes and fittings.  GRP pipework is available in diameters from 25 to 800 mm. 

GRP pipe gives high strength whilst being light weight with excellent corrosion resistance and provides customers with a superior alternative to costly metal alloys and rubber-lined steel. 

GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) pipe consists of a chemical barrier layer and a structural layer.  Choosing GRP offers excellent corrosion resistance, being light weight, high strength with a long service life and a competitive alternative.  GRP is accepted throughout most industries as the best solution for the storage of most chemicals and liquids with flexibility of temperature ranges and chemical barriers.

Dual Laminate Piping Systems

In addition, Plasticon manufactures and installs thermoplastic lined GRP (dual laminate) pipes for aggressive products such as chlorine gas, hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite, Sulphuric acid and caustic soda. We combine various thermoplastic and fluoropolymer liners (PVC, C-PVC, PP, PE, PVDF, E-CTFE, ETFE, FEP, PFA, MFA) with glass fibre reinforced polyester resins to provide our customers with dual laminate piping systems for extremely hot and corrosive environments.

Application Areas

Due to their excellent properties, Plasticon piping systems can be used perfectly in several environments. These include above and underground systems designed according to BS7159:1989, DIN16965\16966, ISO 14692 and AWWA 45. Plasticon can also supply insulated pipes for cooled water conduits used in tropical and subtropical regions or in cold environments. These include heat tracing to prevent the medium from freezing. The use of polyurethane insulation finished with a GRP laminate ensures 100% vapour-tight insulation. Plasticon Composites can comply with any requirements relating to product identification.

Design 

Plasticon UK have a dedicated design team located at our Hull Office experienced with the design of all GRP, GRE, Thermoplastic and Dual Laminate Pipework Systems and can undertake the full on-site routing surveys, field measure, drawings (AutoCAD and 3D Solid Modelling) Support design and Stress Analysis using the latest modelling software to ensure our systems are perfectly designed to ensure uninterrupted, trouble free long term service.
